Black metal side project as expressed by Ryan Lipynsky and Tim Call, THE HOWLING WIND's debut album, 2007's ‘Pestilence & Peril’, was apparently “well received in the extreme metal press”, according to AllMusic. “Killusion” and “Parasitus Nex” – as Lipynsky and Call were known back then – released ‘Into The Cryosphere’ next, in 2010:

“Lipynsky's guitar work is quite technically skilled, occasionally heading into the dissonant, even disorienting territory heard on KRALLICE's two albums, and ‘Impossible Eternity’ [album's sixth track] features some psychedelic effects, in addition to creepy chanted vocals in the background of the mix. Nex's drumming is sometimes rudimentary, but at other times, his patient timekeeping is more effective than a showier performer would have been.
